Refugee families and children were treated to tours, pizza and ice cream.
The Hebron Fund sponsored 82 Ukrainian refugees for a visit to Hebron. The group of families and children recently immigrated to Israel from Ukraine amid the war with Russia and are currently living in the Beit Shemesh area.
The group toured the historic sites of the city including the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs / Cave of Machpela. The Hebron heritage Museum and Visitors Center offered them a free visit including the “Touching Eternity” film which is offered in Hebrew, Russian, English and other languages. There the group was treated to pizza and ice cream.
Rabbi Dan Rosenstein, executive director of the Hebron Fund told the group their meal was sponsored by generous donors who contribute to the Hebron Fund and welcomed them to the city. Some of the participants were orphans and Rabbi Rosenstein was impressed by the resolve of the community rabbis who chose to leave Ukraine to be together with their students.
“We wanted to give them a hug, so to speak, from their fellows Jews in America,” Rabbi Rosenstein stated.
